Statement of Motivation for a DBA

Firstly, I would like to leverage my experience and domain expertise to contribute back to the society. One of the best ways is to create body of knowledge that would be beneficial to the generations to come. I have been in the management consulting field for around two decades and I have witnessed several megatrends in digitalisation, sustainability and global supply chain that have incubated new business models. Personally, I am interested in electric vehicle (EV) and in climate change. Given Hong Kong and China’s ambition in achieving net zero by 2050 and 2060 respectively, and the rapid development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), I believe it would be valuable to research on EV acceleration related to Hong Kong in the context of GBA. My goal is to have a positive influence on policy making related to EV acceleration and carbon reduction in Hong Kong and the GBA.

Secondly, I would like to become an expert in the field of EV and sustainability in my region. EV is gaining popularity but is it as green and as clean? What are the opportunities to be unlocked? What are supply chain requirements to make the EV ecosystem work more effectively? As energy transition is happening fast across industries, I would like to propose recommendations for EV ecosystem stakeholders to support smart city transformation.

Lastly, I would like to mingle with beautiful minds across the globe to co-create new business knowledge. I would like to take this DBA to expand my network and possibly open new opportunities for myself and others related to my research topic. I have been serving as a part-time lecturer for a Master of Science (MSc) in Global Supply Chain Management of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I would like to bring the best-in-class knowledge to my students. Having a DBA would help me sharpen my critical thinking, equip me with new methods and tools and gain insights from my DBA fellows to achieve my personal and professional goals.
