Professional Career & Mini Bio

Prof. Stefano Battaglia is a progressive HR Professional, Business School Professor and Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. He has over 15 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels, lecturing at numerous higher-education institutions including Business School Lausanne (BSL), EU Business School, Geneva Business School (GBS), Swiss Education Group (SEG), Glion Institute of Higher Education (GLION), United International Business School (UIBS) and Strathclyde Business School.


Over the years, he has been teaching several courses including Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Performance Management Systems and Leadership Skills for Change Management. He currently teaches Organizational Design for Progressive Organization for the BSL Masters Programs and he supervises DBA’s students on the topic of ‘Decentralized Organizational Design Models’. Prof. Battaglia is passionate about building progressive, human-centric organizations that move beyond outdated bureaucratic systems to foster genuine participatory engagement and nurture individual talents and aspirations. He advocates for a radical shift in leadership, management, and organizational design to create work environments where people can truly thrive.


He has previously worked as an HR Business Partner and Learning and Development Specialist at Frontiers Media SA, one of the largest and fastest-growing open-access publisher worldwide, and as a Lead HR Business Partner at Merkle Switzerland AG. Additionally, he served as an L&D Consultant designing and implementing a variety of management and leadership training programs for managers at all levels.


He holds a Bachelor in Communication Sciences from the University of Bologna (Italy), an MSc in Human Resource Management from Bradford University (UK) and a PhD on the ‘Dynamics of Trust in the Employment Relationship’ from Strathclyde University (UK). His doctoral thesis examined the development of trust dynamics in the employment relationship and the significant challenges faced by HR professionals in developing trust relationships in organizations.
