The BSL learning experience is helping me a great deal in changing my mindset for good.

Michele Soavi – Italy

MBA

What led to your interest in business?

My interest in business is mostly related to the curiosity of understanding key aspects of operations management.

Why did you decide to join BSL?

I was thinking for a while to do an MBA in order to make a shift in my career. Since I finished my university studies, I have been working as a consultant in the financial services industry and I was interested in opening up future working job opportunities into other fields. I specifically chose BSL for its family-like atmosphere and its focus on sustainability. Furthermore, since I have always been passionate about the mountains, the nature and the snow, Lausanne qualified as the perfect location for me.

How has your experience been so far?

Even though I started my MBA less than 2 months ago, the experience has been great so far. I didn’t expect to enlarge my technical knowledge, enhance my soft skills and evolve my mindset as much in such a short period of time. My classmates are really good and I have the opportunity to learn a great deal from them.

BSL’s family-like atmosphere and small class size is fundamental in sustaining your learning process and building your network. The BSL learning experience is helping me a great deal in changing my mindset for good.

What are you passionate about? How will you bring your passion to your work in the future?

Away from school, I really like being in the mountain, skiing and enjoying the nature with friends. I enjoy travelling to discover new places and cultures very much.

I am also passionate about discovering how systems work in general, the operational part of general management. My target for the future would be to work for a company where I can apply my passion for tourism, transport and operational analysis.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I would not say that I wanted to do something in particular. If I had to name one dream job, I would say either alpine guide or explorer.

Who or what inspires you?

I am generally inspired by the idea to leave the world better than I found it. On one hand, this means improving efficiency and considering social and environmental problems to me. On the other hand, I also interpret it as leaving a good feeling and transmitting positive energy to the people I am in contact with. I am inspired by innovation, creativity and exploring new ways to perform a task.

How do you see your professional future in 5 years from now? What will you be doing?

In 5 years from now I see myself in an environment which would allow me to associate my passions and creativity skills with my technical knowledge and analytical skills acquired in my previous work experience. Probably in Switzerland as I really enjoy living here.

If you could make one significant change to the world, what would it be?

No more violence.
