Guest Tim Kelly talks Sustainable Corporate Finance to Master Students

Tim Kelly

Tim Kelly recently spoke to our Master of International and Sustainable finance students studying “Sustainable Corporate Finance and Governance” class with Associate Professor Kevin Fox .

Tim Kelly is the Finance and Corporate Services Director for Roche Products Limited in the UK.  Prior to this role he was the head of Corporate Planning for the Roche Group, with various roles in Finance since joining Genentech (a member of the Roche Group) in 2003.  Tim has also worked in consulting and in medical diagnostics.  He earned his Masters in Business Administration at the Columbia Business School, and a Bachelor in Economics with a minor in Mathematics at the College of William and Mary.

How would you describe the state of the world today in 3 words:

Tenous, short-sighted, wisdom-needing

What is your greatest hope for the future of the world?

To treat each person in a way that cultivates their potential.  You never know who will cure cancer, walk on Mars, become your best friend, or do you a great kindness

Biggest lesson you learnt in your professional life so far?

Intelligence only gets you so far, how you use when you interact with people is where you’ll have the biggest impact

What is one piece of advice you want to give to our students?

Don’t miss the chance to take a good risk, and be sure to have fun (you will never be younger than you are today).
