Strategic Partnerships in 2014
In 2014, BSL entered into new and extended existing strategic partnerships with key organizations in the sustainability field, in alignment with our mission:
Swiss Sustainable Finance
BSL became a network partner of Swiss Sustainable Finance (SSF) at the Association’s inaugural general meeting held in Bern on September 22, 2014. At the meeting, SSF elected its board members and drafted actions plans to be implemented in the coming months. Education was chosen among the Association’s key priorities and more specifically – the collaboration with local universities and business schools to promote the integration of sustainable finance know-how in Switzerland’s educational offering. As a school which offers sustainability-oriented management programs and aims at educating globally responsible leaders, BSL was welcomed in the SSF’s network of partners together with other organizations such as WWF Switzerland, ETH Zürich, Centre for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at the University of Zürich, Geneva Finance Research Institute at the University of Geneva and others.
SSF brings together financial and non-financial service providers, investors, universities and business schools, public sector entities and other interested organizations, providing a platform to foster the integration of sustainability principles into all financial services. The Association was created to promote sustainability in the Swiss financial market, and strengthen Switzerland’s position as a leading worldwide center for sustainable finance.
BSL became an official representative of B Corps (www.bcorporation.net) in Switzerland. B Corps is a global movement of Certified B Corporations that aim to redefine success in business so that all companies compete not only to be the best in the world, but the best for the world.
As a representative of the movement in Switzerland, BSL will serve and support the local community of B Corps and will help new businesses to obtain the B Corp Certification. “We are extremely delighted to represent B Corps in Switzerland,” BSL’s Dean Dr. Katrin Muff said. “This partnership is in alignment with our mission to provide a learning platform for individuals and organizations to thrive by co-creating viable business solutions for our planet and its people.”
News from Kofi Annan Business School Foundation
BSL maintained its partnership with the Kofi Annan Business School Foundation and received its second Kofi Annan scholar, Angus Goliath (Zimbabwe), in 2014. 25-year old Angus started his Bachelor of Business Administration in September and attended a handover ceremony together with BSL’s first Kofi Annan scholarship student Andile Dyonase from South Africa.
BSL was appointed the exclusive representative of the Kofi Annan Business School Foundation in Switzerland in 2012. As part of the foundation, BSL provides talented and motivated students from developing countries with superior business education free of charge through its full-time degree programs. The Kofi Annan Business Schools Foundation was established in 2007 with the support of former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
