Professional Career & Mini Bio

Professor Dr. Arash Golnam teaches systems thinking and modeling at BSL and is a member of the core doctoral faculty. He is a member of Greenwood Strategic Advisors AG, an international firm which provides system dynamics modeling and simulation products and services. Before this, he was a post-doctoral researcher in the school of computer and communications sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).

Prior to joining academia, Prof. Dr. Golnam was head of the international projects administration office at the biggest commercial vehicle manufacturing company in the Middle East where he had the opportunity to work in large-scale technology transfer projects with world-class partners such as Daimler AG. He also worked as the executive advisor to the president of the society for R&D centers of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade in Iran.

Prof. Dr. Golnam was awarded the distinguished researcher of the year 2010 in Iran by the Iran’s Ministry of Science and Technology and is a recipient of the Swiss National Science Foundation research fund. His areas of research include systems thinking and modeling, system dynamics simulation, problem structuring, organizational decision making and business model design. He has published in prestigious conferences and journals such as the Industrial Marketing Management Journal and International Conference of System Dynamics Society. He holds a Ph.D. in Management of Technology from EPFL a Master of Science in Industrial Management and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering – systems design and analysis.
