BSL Alumnus Pascal Ravessoud Quoted in Le Temps Article on Fine Watchmaking

On June 22, 2016, Le Temps, one of the best newspapers in Western Switzerland, published an article dedicated to The White Paper on Fine Watchmaking. The publication of Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) aims at defining what is fine watchmaking, using 28 criteria, such as design, manufacturing, history, after sales service, etc.

Pascal Ravessoud, a BSL alumnus (EMBA 2003) and Secretary General of the Cultural Council of FHH, is featured in the article with his view on the White Paper. He says it will help people compare very different watchmakers. He also mentions that the list may be extended to include Asian brands in the future. The list will be reviewed every second or third year.

The article goes on to explain that 46 experts were consulted to establish the list of fine watchmakers. FHH intends to develop this list into a kind of label.  64 out of 86 European brands screened are considered as belonging to the fine watchmaking industry. They are classified among four categories: historic firms, contemporary brands, luxury brands and creative artisans.

Pascal was featured in BSL’s booklet of alumni success stories 25 Alumni who inspire us. “Connecting the dots allowed me to see business matters with a broader perspective and a better understanding of the context, and allowed me to embrace jobs with a need for a strategic vision,” says Pascal about his EMBA studies at Business School Lausanne.
