Priscilla Hannaford, Peru, Bachelor of Business Administration
What led to your interest in business?
I found myself lost and confused, not knowing what to study to take me where I wanted to go. I knew I wanted to go into the food and agriculture industry, yet how? Finally, I decided that business would be the best choice since it would prepare me for whatever path I choose to take, with the right tools to succeed.
Why did you decide to join BSL?
Sustainability. I saw many universities and none attracted me. As soon as I opened BSL’s page, I knew it was for me. Their proposal seemed fresh and original.
How has your experience been so far?
Since I started BSL, I have learnt so much, I feel I could already venture out to the business world! I have been handed all kinds of tools from my teachers and most importantly, the know-how for using them!
What are you passionate about? How will you bring your passion to your work in the future?
Food. I will bring my passion for food by working to promote healthy eating globally. The earth gives us such beautiful fruit, vegetables and other ingredients and every culture has their traditional cuisine which I think is the most beautiful thing. I want everyone to go back to their roots and to actually want to eat these natural, fair-trade and local foods instead of going out for fast food, which is so detrimental for health.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Many things. From a princess to a lawyer, but I sure never saw myself in agriculture!
Who or what inspires you?
Imagining a better future.
How do you see your professional future in 5 years from now? What will you be doing?
I see myself working for an organization like Slow Food or Fair Trade, where I will be working to promote more natural ways of eating.
If you could make one significant change to the world, what would it be?
Make healthy eating as available and easy as fast food. Revolutionize our food system and bring it back on track so we can all live better.
