Admissions criteria

Our DBA candidates have solid professional experience in any given field and wish to investigate a topic in the domain of business sustainability. They have the capacity to express their thoughts in a structured and substantiated manner and would like to use this to sharpen their intellectual and transdisciplinary thinking.

Who is eligible for this program?

Successful DBA candidates have the stamina and determination to commit to a research project over a long period of time. Our DBA candidates are fluent in English and have an MBA or Master’s degree with at least 5 years’ pre or post-master’s relevant professional work experience.

Admissions checklist

BSL Admissions Committee only reviews complete applications which include the following documents:

  • Application form

    We only accept completed and signed application forms. Click here to download the application form.
  • Master degree or equivalent

    EITHER a master’s degree in business or in a business related area, from a recognized university or institution and at least 5 years’ pre- or post-master relevant professional working experience.

    OR the equivalent in terms of significant work experience (for professionals over 40 years of age) in a senior position of responsibility including management experience, adding up to a minimum total of 10 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Official transcripts

    Official transcripts (foreign official transcripts must be certified by a legal authority such as a Public Notary, with translation when necessary).

    A transcript is a complete list of the courses taken and grades earned by a student throughout a course.

  • CV

    An up-to-date curriculum vitae/resume (overview of studies, relevant working experience if any and activities). At least 5 years’ pre or post-master’s relevant professional work experience.
  • Motivation letter

    A motivation letter/essay highlighting your perspective on your professional future, the reasons why you wish to study business, why you believe BSL is the right school for you and your goals and experience as they relate to higher education.
  • Recommendation letters

    Two recommendation letters (signed and printed on official letterhead paper) from employers. These letters should include, for example, your skills, dependability, personal character, and accomplishments.
  • Fluency in English

    Fluency in English at  a TOEFL IBT Level of 100 or equivalent.
  • Photographs

    Two identical passport photographs.
  • Copy of ID

    A copy of your passport or identity card.
