Medical & Accident Insurance is compulsory in Switzerland.
EU Residents
You can get an exemption from the obligation to use a Swiss insurance company. Before starting your studies abroad, all EU Students must obtain a European Health Insurance Card from their home country public medical care. A copy of that card will be submitted to the Swiss authorities.
The medical and accident insurance provided by a foreigner Governament must be equivalent to the coverage offered by compulsory Swiss Insurances.
Non-EU Residents
We suggest not contracting medical insurance for the length of your stay in Switzerland before starting your studies. It might not be equivalent to that coverage offered by a compulsory Swiss insurance.

BSL collaborates with Golden Care, which provides an insurance especially designed for students. Prices start from CHF 1'057.- per year. This insurance doesn't take into account pre-existing illness and is suggested for students who are overall in good health.
For those who regularly use medical care, we suggest to take a regular Swiss insurer plan. Prices start from CHF 2'000.- per year (CHF 2'500.- yearly personal contribution on costs incurred) up to CHF 4'500.- per year (CHF 300.- yearly personal contribution on costs incurred).
